Broadway shows now streaming online
Streaming services are slowly killing traditional TV. I mean, try to remember the last time you sat through three minutes of continuous commercials. It’s been a while, right?
We’ve replaced the commercials with a white screen and big red letters reading “NETFLIX” or the comforting colors of green and white when we login to Hulu. Even our dates have transformed from dinner and a movie to Netflix and sex, I mean, chill… Netflix and chill.
And now, the time has come to stream something a little more fun and practical. BroadwayHD is a new streaming service that is bringing Broadway to your living room. For $169.99 a year, which is roughly the cost of one Broadway ticket, you can now stream 120 Broadway shows at any time.
Founded by Tony Award-winning producer couple Stewart Lane and Bonnie Comley and their intention, according to the site, is to “promote and preserve live theatre, extending the reach of Broadway and Broadway-caliber shows to anyone.”
We are thousands of miles away from NYC. Thousands of miles from the nearest Broadway theater. But the shows are now at our fingertips for roughly $14 a month. The best part? There’s no rules against singing along to your TV, or dancing in wig as you watch Memphis.
