Britney’s Loneliness is Killing Me; L.A. Judge Needs to #FreeBritney!

Her loneliness is killing me. Pop sensation and living icon Britney Spears is pleading to be freed from her long-standing conservatorship. She just wants to be released from her fathers chains and take back her life. The internet has erupted in support for the pop star, from LGBTQ community members along with fellow celebrities and enduring fans.
Spears gave a heartwrenching testimony on Wednesday, June 23 relaying executing details on how this 13-year-long conservatorship has “traumatized” her. We all remember the mental health head shaving incident back in 2007, which granted her father James P. Spears’ legal authority over Britney’s life after she was involuntarily hospitalized. Now, after more than an entire decade later, the conservatorship is STILL in full effect, leaving Spears’ daily life to be controlled or highly influenced.
Spears revealed in her emotional, 20-minute-long speech how her father abused his power and used his legal authority over her to keep her heavily medicated, pressured her to work against her will, and even forced her to keep her IUD in-preventing future pregnancy. She told the L.A. judge, “I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive,” adding, “I don’t feel like I can live a full life.”
The fan-led #FreeBritney movement has been circulating for years before she acknowledged publicly what was going on, fans have always suspected their queen was in need of help. Back in 2020, a concerned LGBTQ fan commented on her TikTok, “if you need help wear yellow in your next video.” and the following TikTok, Spears was supporting a yellow top which, caused the #FreeBritney movement to blow up again.
“It’s embarrassing and demoralizing what I’ve been through, and that’s the main reason I didn’t say it openly,” she added. “I didn’t think anybody would believe me.”
It’s safe to say the community is here to back up Britney and as a whole we hope the judge sees this injustice and makes a change to give back the freedom to the incredibly talented and driven woman America knows and loves.
The internet is a powerful place and when used in the right way it can change the world for the better. This free Britney Spears movement wouldn’t have happened without social media. Yesterday she was able to speak her truth. I’m so happy for her. #FreeBritney pic.twitter.com/BuMd2oGW9b
