Spooky Season is slowly starting to creep in, so what better way to celebrate than with a brand-new Dragula spin-off series?
The infamous Boulet Brothers recently signed a new deal with AMC/Shudder to expand the Dragula franchise, and the first series coming out of that pact is Dragula: Titans. Similar to RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, contestants from previous seasons will come back and compete for the first-ever Dragula Titans crown, a $100,000 grand prize, and a headlining spot on the upcoming world tour.
According to the series announcement, the spin-off will feature a new format that “promises a haunted mansion full of shocking twists and turns that take place in a brand-new ‘underworld’ set that was built just for the season.”
“We wanted the show to feel familiar to fans, but we also wanted the set and format to feel elevated from a regular season in order to match the incredible talent of the artists we’ve brought together,” the Boulet Brothers say in the announcement. “There are so many shocking twists and turns this year that the competitors affectionately renamed the show Gagula during filming, and we really can’t wait for audiences to see it—this show is truly the most compelling content we’ve created to date.”
While the cast of returning drag monsters is currently unknown, it has been announced which horrifying celebrities will be joining the Boulet Brothers behind the judges’ panel. They include Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Harvey Guillen (What We Do In The Shadows), Justin Simien (director of Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion movie), pop-metal princess Poppy, Joe Bob Briggs (The Last Drive-In), Bonnie Aarons (The Nun), Barbara Crampton (Reanimator, Jakob’s Wife) Drag Race legends Alaska and Katya, and more. Surprise guests will also appear throughout the season.
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans will have a two-episode premiere on October 25 on both Shudder and AMC+ (just in time for Halloween!) and the series is slated to have a total of 10 episodes in subsequent weeks.
