Black Pride Colorado Celebrates the Black Queer Community this June
This year is Black Pride Colorado’s second year celebrating Colorado’s Black queer community during Pride Month. Make sure to check out their upcoming events to help celebrate and support Colorado’s Black queer community. For tickets or to volunteer make sure to check out their website.
Black Pride 2022 kicks off with Black Pride Colorado’s Happy Hour at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver on June 15.
The festivities continue leading up to the weekend. On June 16, check out an Evening with Nic Stone, where she’ll discuss why we need to restructure the culture around mental health and wellness, along with all things Black and joyful. The event also serves as a fundraiser for Empower Community High School.
June 17 is the second annual Strange Fruit of Black Excellence Gala, which celebrates the Harlem Renaissance at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Guests are invited to attend dressed in their favorite fashion inspired by the era. After the gala, the party continues with The Rent Party, in collaboration with OFM.
The fun continues on Saturday at X Bar Denver. On June 18, check out Felony Misdemeanor & Black Pride Colorado Present: Black Diamonds feat. Yvie Oddly & Angeria Paris Van Michaels. The show will feature an all-Black cast of Colorado drag favorites, including RuPaul’s Drag Race alums, Yvie Oddly, and Angeria Paris Van Michaels. There will also be a meet and greet before the show.
In celebration of Juneteenth, Black Pride is hosting Queer Cookout: A Family Celebration on June 19, boasting free admission event with food, drink, activities, and performances from local artists.
At Denver Pride, Black Pride Colorado will be on the main stage on June 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. to showcase an all-Black cast of Colorado talent.
Last but not least, Black Pride Colorado is closing out Black Pride with a June 26 event and fundraiser, Beer Bust at Triangle Denver. Come support Black Pride Colorado with a fun evening of drinks and music.
