Beyoncé Releases Two Singles Ahead of New Country Album

Beyoncé shocks the world with a new music announcement during the 2024 Superbowl.

The 2024 Super Bowl was not only a big day in sport but a big day for music thanks to Beyoncé. During a commercial Beyoncé teased her new album by saying, “Release the new music” during an advertisement. She then released two new singles and announced her upcoming album Act II to be released on March 29. She shockingly announced Act II while fans still relish in her recent album Renaissance and World Tour.

Beyoncé has been a household name for years, building a massive fanbase through her consistently touching music and culture-defining tours. She has made history by winning the most Grammys with a total of 28 wins. She used the Grammy stage as a platform to thank the queer community and has shown massive support for LGBTQ+ members throughout her career. She even dedicaed Renaissance to her Gay uncle, speaking out about the impacts of HIV.

Beyoncé surprise-released two singles entitled “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” before the album release. The Houston native utilized her Texan upbringing for these country singles ahead of her first full country album. “Texas Hold ‘Em” has a classic country hoedown sound revolving around a relationship, with Beyoncé singing, “I’ll be damned if I can’t slow dance with you.” This song is deeply romantic and filled with a sense of yearning. “Texas Hold ‘Em” is a dance party essential, while “16 Carriages” is a more reflective ballad about dreams and regret. The thesis of the same lies in the lyric, “I watch them ride with my dreams away.” Beyoncé reflects on the effect of her upbringing and strong work ethic.

Both Beyoncé fans and casual listeners greatly receive the two singles. “Texas Hold ‘Em” is the current number-one song worldwide on Apple Music, and she is now the first black woman to have a song chart number one on the Billboard Hot Country Song Charts. Beyoncé continued to shape the music industry and reach new career highs even after 27 years in the industry.

Act II, Beyoncé’s Eighth album, is stepping into the country genre which is something not unfamiliar to her. She previously ventured into the genre with her song “Daddy Lessons” from the beloved album Lemonade. Genre exploration and versatility are an aspect of why Beyoncé is so adored as she has seamlessly transitioned from pop, and RnB, to house, and now country.

The release of Act II on March 29th will doubtlessly continue to alter the country music industry. Until then, listeners can savor her newest country singles “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.”
