AVER national conference in Denver

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of American veterans for Equal Rights hosted the 2013 AVER National Conference at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver from September 19th through the 22nd. LGBT Veterans from across the country converged on the Mile High City for meetings, work sessions and a little socializing. This year’s keynote speaker was Marine Sergeant Eric Alva. Alva was the first American service member to be wounded in the Iraq war. Out Front attended the opening ceremonies on September 20th where the group was welcomed by Denver City Councilwoman Robin Kniech and thanked in a letter sent by President Barack Obama.
