#ArtFindsUs Headed To The Streets Of Denver

Sadie CheneyBy Sadie CheneyAugust 26, 2020Updated:June 1, 20262 Mins Read

On the evening of August 27, artists will be flooding to the streets of metro Denver. K Contemporary Gallery and Athena Project have partnered, creating #ArtFindsUS, to bring visual and performing artists to the city’s eleven districts.

Between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, a mobile group of artists will travel a predetermined route, pausing along the way to invite communities to experience vibrant local artists without having to leave their neighborhoods.  These offerings provide a safe opportunity to view art during the time of COVID-19 and are accessible from windows, yards, and patios. The routes will include neighborhoods, business districts, and locations where all can commune safely to celebrate arts and culture.

#ArtFindsUs

The #ArtFindsUs featured artists and routes can be found here.

The performers will be activating spaces in the Capitol Hill and Baker neighborhoods.  In Baker, a mobile stage created by Handsome Little Devils will feature dancers from Bella Diva Dance as well as comedian Shanel Hughes. Riding independently in pedicabs in Capitol Hill will be local favorites K Street Band. Mobile billboards will traverse all 11 city council districts and will feature visual artists curated by K Contemporary Gallery.

#ArtFindsUs has a goal of building upon Denver’s June and July outings. This is a rain or shine event, and the founders ask all audiences to practice social distancing and to wear a mask to help protect our artists and slow the spread of COVID-19.

The Athena Project aims to empower women through the arts, amplifying gender equity within art, while K Contemporary Gallery’s mission focuses on creating a platform for Colorado-based artists to have national and international influence. The two together will bring incredible art to the streets of Denver in a time where the community needs it most.
