All That Glitters: The SF LGBT Center Soirée Dazzles at City View

It was one of those nights—the kind people reference in passing with a sly smile, like you were obviously there too. The Soirée returned to City View at Metreon in full force, soaring above downtown San Francisco with skyline views, strong cocktails, and even stronger outfits—all in support of the SF LGBT Center and its mission to uplift and serve LGBTQ+ communities.

The evening kicked off on the rooftop terrace, where the city’s LGBTQ+ royalty gathered under the fading light. Mayor Daniel Lurie and Senator Scott Wiener floated through the crowd while guests clinked glasses, nibbled on elegant hors d’oeuvres, and posed with practiced ease at the step and repeat. The energy was part high fashion, part homecoming, and all heart.

Inside, the dinner program offered the perfect balance of sparkle and substance. Co-hosts Sister Roma and Honey Mahogany kept the evening buzzing while the Center’s fiercest supporters leaned in for the main event. Executive Director Rebecca Rolfe, a pillar of queer leadership in San Francisco, officially announced her upcoming retirement. The room rose in a standing ovation before Rebecca even reached the podium. Senator Wiener presented her with a Senate commendation, honoring her 22 years of unshakable service to the community.

Her remarks were intimate, commanding, and exactly what the moment called for. She spoke of legacy, of love, of the responsibility to keep showing up for each other. And woven through it all was a clear, powerful call to action—a handoff to the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders to rise up, take the mic, and carry the mission forward. Rebecca will continue to lead the Center through the end of the year, ensuring a smooth transition to new leadership. The next chapter is already being written, and thanks to her, it’s off to a strong start.

Auctioneer Michael Tate took the stage next and lit the place up. The live auction was fast, fabulous, and wildly successful. The paddles flew. The bids soared. The room gave like it meant it. If money talks, this crowd was giving a full-throated roar.

Then came the after-party. Drag legend Juanita MORE! served a performance so electric it should have come with a surge warning. DJ LadyRyan kept the dance floor fully charged while guests spun, dipped, and sweat through couture. Miniature desserts circulated like gossip at a Sunday drag brunch, the bar stayed open, and the vibe only got hotter.

The Soirée wasn’t just about raising money. It was a flex. A statement. A full-throttle celebration of queer power, past and future. A salute to a legacy and a nod to the ones already stepping up to shape what’s next.
Same time next year? You won’t want to miss it.
