ABOUT US

OFM (OUT FRONT Magazine) was founded in 1976 by Phil Price. Since then, no other queer media has served the LGBTQ community with such dedication.

Price outlined his mission in the first issue of OFM: “Out Front will cater to the needs and desires of gays in the area and will feature articles, thought-provoking editorial, the latest news, and exciting photography.”

When Price passed away in 1993, he left the company in the hands of Jay Klein and Greg Montoya, who carried on his vision until 2012.

In late January 2012, Colorado native Jerry Cunningham and his partner, JC McDonald, acquired OUT FRONT and its parent company, Q Publishing.

Taking the magazine to new heights after an unpredictable pandemic year, Maggie Philips and Addison Herron-Wheeler then acquired Q Publishing Group Ltd. (DBA OFM – OUT FRONT Magazine) in October 2020. To reflect their desires to appeal to more unique aspects of the LGBTQ community, they rebranded to OFM and take great pride in preserving the history of the magazine throughout its new branding.

We are honored to say that OFM remains one of the nation’s oldest continuous-running, independently owned and operated LGBTQ publications. With this honor comes pride and gratitude, as well as responsibility.

We are proud of the journalistic integrity and fortitude that has allowed us to bring a quality product to our readers for more than three decades. We are grateful to those who have made and continue to make it possible, including our dedicated team members. We take our responsibility seriously to provide information, be a forum for communication, and give back to our community through various avenues.

At OFM (OUT FRONT Magazine), we believe each person is a vibrant contribution to the fabric of life. Meet the team that inspires to amplify queer voices!

After six years directing OFM operations, Maggie obtained co-ownership along with her fearless business partner, Addison (below). Maggie took over as CEO and co-publisher to carry on the 45-year legacy that Phil Price founded, and continues to amplify queer voices. Maggie considers hiking to be the best therapy and intends to conquer as many mountains as possible until her legs can no longer carry her up.

Addison is OFM’s co-owner, co-publisher, and editor-in-chief, and friend to dogs everywhere. She enjoys long walks in the darkness away from any sources of sunlight, rainy days, and painfully dry comedy. She also covers cannabis and heavy metal, and is author of Wicked Woman: Women in Metal from the 1960s to Now, and Respirator, a short story collection.
