$20 Happy Hour? Head North

LOOKING FOR A REASONABLE HAPPY hour to spend with friends and colleagues? North Italia in the heart of Cherry Creek is the place to go.

Janet Corniel

A mere Jackson gets you a bottle and board. A lovely house red or white and your choice of a chef’s board, pizza, or bruschetta are included in this fantastic price. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the selection on the chef’s board, which often includes olives, prosciutto, two cheeses, grilled asparagus, a sweet tangy apricot and sultana compote, and crusty bread. (The compote alone is worth it!) That being said, the pizza and bruschetta do not disappoint. The pizza is hand-made, just like their pasta, so the crust is crispy and airy at the same time.

North Italia takes a modern approach to traditional Italian cooking. Although it’s a chain with other locations, the restaurant in Cherry Creek is the only location in Colorado. The staff is warm and will make you feel like a welcomed guest.

North Italia’s decor is lovely and offers outdoor seating for al fresco dining. A large, distressed wooden bar allows you to watch a game or chat it up with those sitting next to you. The restaurant is laid out for guests to socialize and enjoy one another’s company. There are no seat restrictions during happy hour. You and your party can enjoy the specials no matter where you sit in the restaurant. It’s no wonder this Cherry Creek gem is enjoyed by regulars and locals.

Everyone could use a great deal, but the best deals are those that make you feel like you’re not skimping on quality. For the cost of two “meal deals” at the local fast food joint, you and a friend can enjoy a lovely bottle of wine and a yummy taste of Italy, which is fantastic. The happy hour menu has other offerings, so you’ll be spoiled for choice. On Sundays, they offer half-price bottles of wine along with the happy hour menu. After you’ve saved some coin on their specials, you can splurge and enjoy the dinner menu and extensive list of cocktails they offer.

The only drawback is that WiFi is not available. However, who needs WiFi when you’re out with friends and colleagues? So, unplug and enjoy the company of friends — or meet new ones who really know how to choose a restaurant.

Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 3pm–6pm and all day on Sundays.
